He also polished his shoes but did not properly tie his shirt.
For the first time in ten years, iconic Minecraft (opens in a new tab) default skin/character Steve has a beard once more, via the most recent update to Minecraft's upcoming version. The skins for both the default Steve and Alex characters in the beta launcher come with a few minor adjustments to the texture that make a huge difference.
Steve is now sporting the iconic beard. rolled up or cuffed sleeves, and a bit more color definition on crucial areas such as the arms, shoes, and chest. Perhaps they've shined their shoes. It's difficult to tell with all that dust.

Alex is, however, sporting the same cuffs on his sleeves, as well as more striking colors on the majority of their clothing. There's a distinct depth and layering on Alex's hair.
Everyone has suffered from the pandemic that has been around for a long time. A lot of people thought that this was the best moment to grow a beard since they weren't leaving their house or even going out. This includes, it appears, Minecraft Steve. Is that a canon or something? It's not. It was a prank.
Steve's beard was first lost in 2009, 13 years ago, well before Alex even appeared on the scene. Despite that, the neglected beard was still seen in official artwork and even appeared when they put Steve in Super Smash Brothers, all down to an Amiibo figure.
Welcome back, beardy Steve. The fans are excited. (opens in a new tab)
