HOW TO IMPROVE the performance of your ROG LAPTOP utilizing THE MUX SWITCH
A few seconds can distinguish between winning and defeating in a frantic fight. Each time we design laptops, we constantly tweak and re-test our prototype machines to optimize the GPU and CPU performance. This year we've added hardware components that will help boost the commission to the next level. In response to popular customer demand and feedback, we've expanded our 2022 range to include an MX switch.
What exactly is a MUX Switch?

When you use a desktop PC with dedicated graphics, your monitor is connected directly to the graphics card. When the GPU is finished rendering frames, it transmits directly to your display, where it'll be displayed immediately (provided you're using G-SYNC or FreeSync-capable display). ROG LAPTOP results in low latency and minimal performance overhead and allows users to spot your adversaries before they see you.
Modern gaming laptops function differently. The laptop's GPU can render the frame and route it through the integrated graphics on your CPU before transferring it onto the screen. It has several advantages, particularly in terms of energy usage.

However, this method has one small drawback: everything must be routed through the CPU, and the GPU can only provide some of its power to intensive gaming sessions. It will still deliver excellent performance. However, you'll need help to make the graphics chip reach its maximum.
ROG LAPTOP is the reason why the MUX switch is a good choice. We initially added MUX switches on our top laptops in 2018, but in 2019, we're adding them to our entire line. The microchip allows an exclusive GPU over the CPU to send its frames directly onto the display by reducing latency while also increasing frame rates by an average of 9.9% during our testing. Certain games, such as Rainbow Six Siege, saw more than a 30 percent increase.

How do I turn off the MUX Switch on the Armoury Crate?
This separate GPU mode was initially available in its own "MUX Switch" setting, but now it's integrated into our existing GPU Power Saving options. Launch your Armoury Crate application, make sure it's current, and check the System Configuration box in the lower left-hand corner. You'll find the GPU Mode option here, letting you switch between the four available options. It is also possible to go into the Device section, click System, and select the GPU Power Saving tab to look at the four modes simultaneously.

The choices include:
Ultimate: This latest discrete GPU mode uses the MUX Switch to provide you with the most efficient latency and performance in competitive games. It will draw more power, which means it will offer a shorter battery life among the options. Additionally, it would help if you rebooted your computer to allow the new settings to take effect.
Standard (Windows default) Standard (Windows default) the MUX Switch switches back to Microsoft's power management standard, also known as MSHybrid. This mode lets Windows choose whether the separate GPU is turned on and off to increase battery life for low-power applications and deliver greater performance to applications that utilize dedicated graphics.
Eco Mode: This mode eliminates the dedicated graphics processor to maximize battery life while generating the least heat and noise. As such, it's ideal for non-gaming CPU-intensive tasks such as code compilation.
Optimized (Recommended) Modified by ROG This mode will automatically change to Eco Mode when the battery is on power and to the Standard method when the device is connected.
