Minecraft: How to Build A Windmill

Step 1: Find some flat land of suitable size, somewhere with grass to make the mill look more realistic when its finished. You can skip this step and build your mill on the top of a volcano.

Step 2: Begin to build the base of the windmill by constructing a 10x10 square.

Step 3: Make the first shape with five blocks high.

Step 4: Seal off this first section by a roof.

Step 5: Determine which side of the box will be front, and then build the door on that side.

Step 6: Cut the grass in the first part and then replace it with the appropriate flooring material. Wood will work, however you can also experiment with different coloured wool.

Step 7: Create a set of stairs breaking out of the ground floor section.

Step 8: Add another two blocks around your structure.

Step 9: Build a new box shape on top of the one you already have with dimensions of 8x8x5 (WxLxH).

Step 10: Then, add a third box measuring 6x6x5.

Step 11: Then, build a fourth box with dimensions 4x4x5

Step 12: Carefully remove the corners from all of the box shapes that you have made so far.

Step 13 Replace the blocks using a darker material. Unprocessed wood is fine. This provides the windmill with an interesting aspect and keeps it from appearing boring.

Step 14: Put several blocks at the top of your mill. These are the blades.

Step 15: Make four homogeneous blades using colored wool. Make them at least 10 blocks long

Step 16: Remove the middle portion of your wool blades.

Step 17: Replace these removed pieces with the fence post. This gives the blades a more solid and solid feel and makes it appear more authentic from a distance.

Step 18: Go back inside and build an outside balcony to the 2nd box shape we constructed earlier. Decorate it with items such tables for picnics or a barbecue.

Step 19: Add a set of ladders leading up to the top of your mill.

Step 20: If you want you can put in torches all over the place to help keep it free of zombies at night or just to make it look nicer.

Step 21: Create windows from the second box we build earlier that opens onto the balcony.

Step 22: If you have not done so yet, you can add columns of support to the balcony. They do nothing other than make the mill look more real.

Step 23: Go back inside and construct the milling mechanism. The most important components you'll will need to design for this are a long shaft that runs from the top where the blades are lowered to the bottom, where you'll need to put two flat surfaces to grind the wheat between. Unfortunately, Minecraft does not have the capability to create large mechanical machines such as this work, so you'll have to play around with your ideas for this.

Step 24: For a finishing touch you can plant a beautiful garden near your mill. You can also build a huge wheat farm next to your mill If you are feeling the need.
