As COVID-19 concerns prompt schools to close across the globe, many educators are turning to remote learning to keep students engaged. LET IT SING To ensure that students and teachers stay connected to the classroom, Minecraft: Education Edition is now available until June 2020 for all educators and learners who have an active Office 365 Education account. Please complete this form to verify your account and request access to Minecraft.
We have also compiled a special Minecraft remote learning toolkit which includes more than 50 lessons, STEM curriculum , and project-based learning exercises so that teachers can use Minecraft: Education Edition with their students whether they are in school, at home or in a remote learning environment.
Features like classroom multiplayer let students to work together on projects within their Minecraft worlds, building learning, planning, and even chatting while they work together. Multiplayer Mode can be accessed by downloading this guide. Students can utilize tools such as the Camera and Book & Quinl to capture screenshots, write about their work and then export their in-game portfolios as PDF when they are ready to submit their work.
"Distance learning requires students to be involved with the content in new ways," explains educator and Minecraft certified trainer Becky Keene. "As they work from home, they need to have environments and activities that encourage learners to study. Minecraft is a great tool for almost every subject and allows students to show me their learning without a break!"
When students work online in Minecraft: Education Edition, it opens up new opportunities to build skills in problem-solving and communication. Mark Henkels, a Minecraft educator in New York, says, "It's the social interaction that's a major part of why the game is so well-known and great. And that social interaction is what makes Minecraft such a great educational environment."

Educational content available for Minecraft Bedrock:
We recently announced a brand new category of educational worlds for Minecraft players across the Minecraft Marketplace to help families during school closures. The new Education Collection includes worlds you can play with your kids and familymembers, as well as creations by the creators Everbloom, Jigarbov, Lifeboat, Razzleberries, The World Foundry, Blockworks and Imagiverse! The worlds are free to download until June 30 2020. Anyone who has Minecraft for Bedrock can access these worlds by starting Minecraft and then visiting the in-game store.
There is no quick fix for major disruptions such as school closures. However, these resources can help educators and students remain connected and engaged in their learning. Please feel free to share advice on remote teaching and learning with the Minecraft Education Edition community on Twitter or Facebook.
