Sound the irritatingly loud alarm for your birthday, because it's Minecraft's 11th birthday! We had thought of eating a lot of cakes shaped like blocks to celebrate.
We thought, why not unveil a new name, a new logo, and the secret sauce that makes the entire machine run instead? While also eating lots of cake? Much better! Let's do that.
Why would we want to change our logo and name? Well, why not? Humans love to reinvent themselves each and every now and then and it is logical to offer the same respect to a company that has been around for more than a decade. Would you still wear the outfit that defined your style in 2009? Or you ?

There has been a lot of change since then! We are now a multi-title, multi-location company that began in Stockholm. We are currently planning an epic feature film, putting together an amazing live show as well as experimenting with new ideas for games.
There are also a number of studiosaround the globe that are all part of Mojang. Which, in a stroke of genius, prompted our brand-new name... *drumroll * and birthday alarm blare *... Mojang Studios.
