Towcester Centre for Leisure awarded Regional Club/Centre of the Year for the Midlands

Towcester Centre for Leisure has recently won a number of awards at the ukactive awards, which celebrate excellence in health, wellbeing and fitness. It was also named National Club/Centre of the Year, which is a huge achievement for the local community. The new facility was officially opened by Mayor Martin Johns. To celebrate its success, the centre is organising a community event on Saturday (June 16) to thank local residents for their support and continued patronage.

The centre has also been commended for its focus on customers, staff and community engagement. It recently underwent a major refurbishment, working closely with the West Northamptonshire Council during the recent pandemic. New facilities were installed including a yoga studio and improved changing and shower facilities. It is also planning to open a new bowl for skateboarding and other activities.

Towcester Centre for Leisure refurbishment project

The changing rooms have been completely refurbished, including new lockers, cubicles, and sanitary fittings. New waterproofing has also been applied to the pool hall's structural steels, increasing the hall's structural durability. Additionally, the centre is making a number of mechanical upgrades to improve energy efficiency.

Sport Relief takes place in South Northants

The Sainsbury's Sport Relief Games brought the sport fundraising event to the public. People could cycle, swim, and run to raise money. Davina McCall cycled and swam 500 miles from Edinburgh to London and raised PS2.4 million. Other celebrity athletes took part in the event, including Freddie Flintoff, who cycled and swam a record-breaking 500 miles in 51 days.

Youth sports scheme launched by South Northants Leisure Trust
