What is Minecraft netherite? Minecraft's latest material is available in the 1.16 update. You can find it in the Nether. Yes and you can make it using a brand new ore called ancient debris - here's how.



Netherite isn't for the faint of heart. It's a highly-levelled material that you should definitely explore the Minecraft Nether portal to locate. It can be used to improve your diamond gear, but it isn't diamond+. This opens new possibilities for netherite-based weapons, gear and other items.



To have your hands on the strongest material in Minecraft, you'll need to travel to the Nether to search for rare ancient materials that you can transform into netherite ingots before creating the best weapons and armour in Minecraft. How to find Netherite in Minecraft

In contrast to diamond, you won't find Minecraft netherite in ore form in the ground. Instead, you'll be looking for ancient debris (or a block in the Nether) - which is extremely rare. You'll require at least a diamond pickaxe to harvest it, so come prepared.

Veins are a great location to find ancient debris. They are usually covered by blocks (or lava on either side) so that you can't see them from the surface. Instead, you'll have to dig them down - the ancient debris is found from y=22 to y=8, though it's most common at y=15.

How to create netherite in Minecraft

If you've found ancient pieces of debris, you can move on to the next step, which is to create netherite scrap. After melting an old debris block in a blast furnace, you'll end up with one netherite scrap. You require four netherite scraps and four gold ingots, arranged in any shape to make a single netherite ingot.





How to make Netherite Armour and Netherite Weapons

The good news is that after scouring the Nether for the right amount of ancient material to make an ingot of netherite it is only a single netherite ingot for every piece of netherite equipment. Instead of creating your new tools from pure netherite, you'll instead upgrade existing diamond armour and weapons by combining them with your netherite ingot using the smithing table.

You can find smithing tables in the blacksmith's shop of the village or you can build one from wood planks or iron ingots. Enchantments that are placed on the diamond equipment will be transferred, however, the durability will not be reset, and you'll need to use an anvil if your diamond equipment requires restoring.
