Leyla Aliyeva's main focus is Environmental Education

Leyla Aliyeva has campaigned for many years and participated to create a path towards more sustainable and greener future, for us and the future generations. She believes that education is essential to understand the vulnerability of the earth. Helping everyone understand the direct link between the degradation of the environment and human activities.

Leyla Aliyeva's IDEA project

Leyla Aliyeva recognizes that environmental issues are often presented as a dull and confusing subject. This is the reason why in 2011 she founded the IDEA campaign (International Dialogue for Environmental Action campaign). The primary objective was to make the environment and stability more fascinating and entertaining for young people and future generations.

In an interview with Equinox.com Aliyeva discussed some of the difficulties she faced in her environmental journey but she mostly talked about how these challenges created an increase in her business and ultimately led to incredible success and appreciation. "The IDEA campaign from the very beginning valued education and set out to inspire people to act to safeguard the environment. The people who are involved, particularly youth, will share the message with their peers and inspire them to carry it further.

This is the reason why the campaign focuses so much effort and attention on education and awareness-raising. Aliyeva mentioned that they add each year new events to their agenda, focusing on three areas for the younger generation, which include students and children from 5 years old. The educational programs of IDEA help hundreds of people every year. They include training sessions. Seminars. lectures. vacation camps. field studies. and discussion clubs.

Ambassador of Goodwill for FAO

Leyla Aliyeva had a great year in the year 2015. After many years of aiding and supporting activities in the environmental and humanitarian areas she was given the title of FAO Goodwill Ambassador. She was honoured for her many efforts to fight hunger and ensuring food security.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), founded in 1945, had as its main goal to raise the quality of nutrition, boost the productivity of agriculture, improve the lives of rural people and help in the growth of the world economy. Today, the FAO is, in the United Nations system, the largest specialized agency and the principal agency for forestry, agriculture fishing, rural development.

Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan became a member of FAO in October of 1995. The FAO has been implementing a wide range of initiatives in Azerbaijan both national as well as international. These include the development and enhancement of food security and resource management expanding potential, and fighting plant and animal diseases. These projects also incorporate technical cooperation programs to meet the most pressing requirements of the Azerbaijani government.

The year 2015 was marked by the trip of Jose Graziano da Silva (FAO general director) to Azerbaijan. Leyla Aliyeva Two agreements were signed in 2015: the "Agreement among the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations on the establishment of the Coordination and Cooperation Office and offering technical assistance" and the agreement on FAO/Azerbaijan Partnership Program. Leyla Aliyeva was awarded with the title Goodwill Advocate by the FAO. She was the founding and head IDEA campaign. She expressed gratitude for the projects that were that were implemented in Azerbaijan in relation to forestry, agriculture and fishing farming.
