How To Make A Minecraft Server

You will first need two things. You will need both a decent Desktop and the Java Minecraft version. Without either of these items, making your own Minecraft server will become a very trying matter to accomplish. Other versions like the pocket edition or Bedrock will not be able to assist you in the creation of a Minecraft server, so make sure you have the proper hardware and software to proceed to the next step. The Java version of Minecraft can be downloaded here.

Download Minecraft

Step 2

Once you've confirmed that you have the required equipment, you can go to Minecraft.net and start your next phase. The Server.Jar file will be downloaded from the site.

Minecraft Server Download

The file is updated regularly with every new Minecraft version so you don't have to worry about it getting out of date. To ensure that the file doesn't get deleted, but also so that it is available for the next step, make sure you create a folder.

Step 3

You will then take the chance to enter the folder that now holds your program and then run the main system. After accepting the agreement, you will need to enter the eula.txt.file and then change the line "eula=false" to "eula=true". Save the changes and exit the program. Next, run the main.jar file to access all documents and txt files. Once you see these new documents and files it will mean that you now have your brand spanking new Minecraft server, but your work will not be finished yet.

Step 4

To create a file to properly launch your server, you are going to want to reenter your new folder and then create a new document and name it something that signals that it is a proper launch document. Once this is done, you will then want to click on the document and enter the following code below:

Java -Xms1024M -Xm1024 -jar server.jar pause

This coded command will be included in your document to allow the server to run at a higher level of efficiency.

Also, a quick reminder: all files created in this folder must be tagged with ".bat".

To verify that the steps you have taken are correct, test your start_server button. Your new server will launch if you followed the instructions correctly. If not, take note to see if you've named your files and documents correctly.

Step 5

The last step you'll take is the familiar one you use every time you create new worlds in your base Minecraft game. You will find a list of options that you can use to change the Minecraft world in your server properties.

This may include difficulty, maximum players, game mode and even the name for your world. This section is for setting the world in which you want to play when you start your server.

Step 6

For your last step, you will first want to run your server. Next, you will need to run Minecraft so you can access the multiplayer tab. You will need to know your IP address so that other players can access your unique server. Once you have done that, you should be able to connect to your server. From there you can start enjoying the fruits of your labor via your custom server.
