The Best Movies and TV to Stream This Week: July 22
Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most well-known NBA superstars today, but the “Greek Freak” took a tumultuous road to basketball’s biggest stage. After emigrating from Nigeria to Greece, Vera and Charles Antetokounmpo live under the constant threat of deportation while struggling to provide for their five children. But thanks to their grit, vision, and faith, they slowly carve out an opportunity for their children to pursue their dreams on the hardwood. HBO reinvigorated interest in the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster with its 2020 miniseries, and now, the network goes even deeper into the story thanks to a newly discovered cache of dramatic footage filmed at the plant during the disaster.

Perfectly walking the fine line between horror and comedy, with an unstoppable supporting cast that includes Michael Gross and Reba McEntire, “Tremors” is just the best. If you’ve never seen it before or it’s been a while, give it a go. If you love it, there’s a never-ending series of direct-to-video sequels of varying quality that you can marathon afterwards. Richly drawn characters and a standout Philip Seymour Hoffman performance (though when is a PSH performance not a standout?) make this a must-see. If you’re beguiled by Jeff Bridges’ performance in “The Old Man” on FX , then you might appreciate this underseen thriller from 1994. Bridges plays a bomb disposal expert in Boston who becomes the target of increasingly violent attacks by Tommy Lee Jones’ IRA nutbag.

The movie offers a lot of exciting and hilarious action scenes as gangsters attack the duo, but it also delivers some hilarious jokes about Ka-Kui's girlfriend thinking he's pursuing Salina. It's a light movie that's sure to put a smile on anyone's face, and it includes some stunning stunts that may just put your jaw on the floor. "Nobody" follows a very simple story — seeming everyman but really former government assassin Hutch Mansell gets into a fight with some goons on a bus one night and one of them happens to be the brother of a Russian gangster. If that sounds similar to the plot of "John Wick," that makes sense.

The story centers on a group of ex-superheroes who investigate the murder of one of their old colleagues, an investigation that leads them to a major discovery. It tales the tale of two men on the opposite sides of the political aisle in early 20th-century India who become friends, only to find their friendship tested as they battle British colonialists. And in the middle of this bromance, you're going to witness some of the most amazing action scenes we've ever seen. From a one vs. hundreds fight scene to a sequence that includes loosing wild animals on a party, "RRR" delivers several absolutely astounding action set-pieces. And as it's a big Indian blockbuster, it also has some great song-and-dance numbers that sometimes overlap with the action.

Alternatively, you can upload any films you already own to a Plex server and enjoy them anywhere. Indie streaming services sometimes ask you to put up with a mediocre interface to reach the compelling content. Besides a great collection of indie movies and documentaries, Ovid.tv has excellent apps for browsers and mobile devices. Tubi is a free video streaming service that claims a collection of 20,000 movies and TV shows.

The Boss brings his solo acoustic performance from Broadway to your TV screen in this Netflix original special. Writer and activist James Baldwin's unfinished manuscript "Remember This House" is brought to life in this Oscar-nominated 2016 documentary narrated by Samuel L. Jackson. "For every sobering note, 'Becoming' has a dozen uplifting moments," wrote film reviewer Richard Roeper in theChicago Sun-Times. The entire family can watch this Martin Scorsese fantasy flick about an orphan living in the walls of a train station in 1930s Paris. This Sundance Film Festival award-winning political documentary follows the 2018 primary campaigns of four progressive Democrats, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This Golden Globe winner for Best Animated Feature Film is a family-friendly sequel worth streaming on Netflix. This Netflix documentary provides an intimate look at the life of former first lady Michelle Obama as she embarks on a 34-city book tour.
