If you haven't played WoW before, I would recommend starting with retail. The current game and the old game have nothing in common and play completely different, that's why we play on private servers not retail, we don't like the changes the game has been through. Even if you say liked BC, you're going to be very disappointed if that's what you're expecting to continue if you move on to retail. There's shady shit going on behind the curtains of every server and the game itself doesn't run exactly as it did during its time period. Lots of bugs, incorrect values, inaccurate scripts/mechanics that don't work how they should. While some servers work better than others but none of them work as well as the game did when it was launched, there are still issues. No person wants to put up with this shit, it's a last resort because Blizzard isn't willing to provide service to a game that no longer exists. If you happen to be a retail player, you can enjoy a game which works 100% as it is supposed to without flaws and a much wider player base.
