Old School Runescape Adding New Challenges To Bosses

Many players of the Old School Runescape community flex their combat abilities in PvP or by fighting bosses for a potential at the corresponding drop table. Some players in the community have taken fighting bosses to a whole another level flexing their mastery of Runescape by kicking some to death, or using subpar gear. Jagex hopes to capitalize players' love of finding new ways to battle bosses by offering a rewarding system. Many players online have only been rewarded by their internet popularity in how they have skillfully fought bosses in the past, but this will be no longer.

Old School Runescape was released in 2013, yet was a re-release of Runescape's build in 2007. This was done deliberately because many players did not like the direction Runescape had taken and wanted to continue playing an older version. With the majority of the game being a point-and-click game, many find it difficult or surprising that these players are able to perform such difficult tasks, with such limiting controls. Jagex the developer for both the PC and mobile versions of Runescape, is looking to make these difficult tasks within the game more accessible and celebratory for players of all skill level calling them "combat achievements."

Those longtime familiar with the game will have already experienced something similar to the new combat achievements; Achievement Diaries, which are mini-quests essentially throughout the world of Runescape separated by region, are a near identical format in which the combat achievements will function. After completing an easy level of combat achievements, players can move on to the medium difficulty level, then hard. The difficulty of each level's tasks will increase, but so will the rewards. Players can get limited teleports to certain regions and eventually an infinite teleport to that region. Real monetary rewards will also be offered based on who completes each level first. Old School Runescape's high player count makes it quite challenging.

Jagex has clearly been trying to understand every concept that players are interested in by adding gameplay to the game. Jagex introduced Runescape Leagues, an official version that is more accessible to beginners. This was in response to Old School Runescape community members who began to limit themselves to certain areas of the map to take on extremely difficult challenges. Jagex also added combat achievements to make it easier for players to defeat bosses.

All players have the opportunity to earn combat achievements and receive monetary rewards for those who do. Many tasks are available to free-to-play players but each level of difficulty requires a minimum of 1 members only task, making membership a requirement to participate.
