Minecraft Realms Vs. Minecraft Server Hosting

I know many people may be wondering how Realms compares to Minecraft server hosting, what features Realms has, or even what the heck realms is! I will provide more information on Realms and whether Realms really is worth the money.



What is Minecraft Realms? Minecraft Realms is basically server hosting that Mojang (creators and creators of Minecraft) has created so that family and friends can play in the same world.



Minecraft Realms pros:



Minecraft Realms offers a lot of great features that make it very easy to use. First, you only need 3 buttons to create a survival world. Realms allows you to play from a few selected Minigames. It takes just a few clicks of your mouse and you can be playing with your friends. It also automatically backs your world up, which is a very useful feature. This could be very useful if your house is hit by lava, or someone grieves it. You can also edit the Realm's name and description. It also allows you to check how much time you have left on your server before the subscription ends by pressing one button. Realms is very user friendly in that it only takes a few clicks to do anything.



Minecraft Realms Cons



There are many positive aspects to Minecraft Realms. There is no world editing. You don't get to choose super-flat or extra-biomes. It just puts you in a normal Minecraft world. Minecraft names While you can use commands on your world, command blocks are not yet allowed, so the making of server management machines cannot be done. Another problem with Minecraft Realms is players. You can only invite 20 players to your world. However, you can have only 10 players on your world at a time. I find that the minigame maps are nice, but I wish they had more. They currently have 5 minigames. These minigames may be fun, but they can get repetitive very quickly. My friends and me would be entertained for a long time if there were many minigames. Another problem I see is the price. While 13 dollars (8 euros) may not seem like a lot, it is a good amount more than what minecraft server hosts offer. Realms does not have some of the features that make Minecraft more fun.



Overview: Realms works well if you want to have a simple world with your friends. If you want to host a large server or make money off it, it is NOT recommended. It is also very nice if you aren't very good with servers because allows you to easliy change things with just the click of a few buttons. Realms isn’t the right place for you if you want a large server.
