How To Create A Free Minecraft Bedrock Server

This server is completely free, and powerful for a Bedrock Server, for comparison a similar amount of ram costs $5 a month.

After you have completed your details, click on Start my Free Trial

Unless you choose to, you won't be charged.

Next, we will create a virtual Machine to run the Server

Fill in the required fields.

Now, scroll down to the 'Image and shape' section. Make sure that "Canonical Ubuntu 20.04" is selected, then check that the shape is set to AMD VM.Standard.E2.1.Micro

Note: The shape preset may not be compatible with ubuntu. If so, switch to the one shown and then modify the Image.

Next, you'll need a virtual cloud network. If you already own a VCN with public subnets, you can choose that. If you do not have an existing VCN with a public subnet, choose 'Create another virtual cloud network'. Then, choose 'Create a public subnet' and accept the default names. Make sure you select 'Assign an IPv4 address public'. Otherwise, you won't be able to connect to this server via the internet. ).

Now we need the "SSH" key pair to be associated with this VM. If you are familiar with the concept and have a public keys that you wish to use, click 'Upload public keys files' and upload your publickey. If this is your first time using SSH keys, these keys will allow you securely log in to the server. Click "Generate SSH key pairing" to save your public and private keys to your local machine. These keys will be used in a short time to log in the VM.

You will need your Private Key to log into the website later so don’t forget this.

Leave the default boot volume values and click Create'.

Click 'Create' to be redirected the VM details pages. Your VM instance is now in a PROVISIONING condition.

After 30-60 seconds, the state switches to RUNNING. Find your public IP Address and copy it.

Next, we will open ports so players can access the server.

Then click add Ingress Rules

To install Minecraft software on a VM, we need a remote connection. I recommend you to learn about SSH if you don't know what it is.

Powershell can be used to connect to Windows if you are using windows, which is most likely. Open Powershell and enter this: ssh -i (file path to your private key) ubuntu@(VM ip address)

BEFORE : Before doing this, ensure that you have researched how to protect your private keys file.

This is how it looks when you log into your vm successfully

Next, you will need to install multiple programs in order to get started.

These commands can be run:

sudo aptget install firewalld

These commands will set up firewall access and screen to keep the server running after it is started.

Next, you will need to enter powershell during the ssh session.

sudo firewall cmd --permanent -zone=public --addport=19132/tcp

sudo firewall cmd --permanent

sudo firewall cmd --reload

Then:

sudo su - Minecraft

mkdir Bedrock

wget https://minecraft.azureedge.net/bin-linux/bedrock-server-1.17.2.01.zip -O server.zip

unzip server.zip

rmserver.zip

If necessary visit https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock and check the latest download link and substitute it.
More

Then, run these commands

chmod +x./bedrock_server

This last command will launch your server:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server

You can now connect via the VM's port and IP to your server. The name of the port is not important.

However when you close the terminal your server will stop too, so you'll need to stop your server by typing "stop' or closing the window, and relogging in (note you'll need to run these commands again sudo su - Minecraft

cd Bedrock

Enter the following:

Run this command again: ./bedrock_server

Now you should have a working bedrock server with 1 GB RAM and 1 xenon Core, which can host at least 20 players. If you would like to do this for a java server use this link.
