Getting that wow itch again in the winter and i really dont want to give blizz any money for tbc classic , so i am looking for a private server that is good, vanilla or wotlk(tbc servers are empty i guess, bcs of tbc classic). Although Chromiecraft looks great, that's the only one I saw. Anyone know some other good servers that are populated?

Turtle for Vanilla plus custom quests. Chromie for Wrath Tauri to MoP
Vanilla servers are about as dead or as good as tbc. Wotlk servers won't be available after wotlk classical drops, but you might have a year until then.
Turtle WoW can be tried.
I am a little confused by turtle wow. It looks like they are adding new dungeons and content all on their own. What if I'm wrong?
Turtle WoW hardcore mode is the best WoW I've ever played, every decision puts your life on the line, gets your heart really pounding!

I have no idea why you are getting thumbs down. It's a great server with a large community. The cash shop is available, but the items you can buy aren't for pay. You can also buy all cash shop items off the AH. Server is the most fun I've had in wow for ages.
Firestorm Shadowlands.
Thousands of people online constantly. It is buggy, but fun.
+1 for warmane.. strong population on the main server for quite a while. Usually a login queue.
Apollo3 has been a good friend too, but is now on Cata so..
After having played a lot Vanilla, Wrath and Cata... Wrath marks the beginning of what is to come. Cata feels 90% like retail.
Northrend might be the place for you if your looking for something a little different.
Warmane if populated wotlk is what you are looking for. Mccainsource If you are looking for custom items, chromie is the best choice.
Vanilla --> Low pops, but can be funny I suppose.
