Is Sexting Actually Sexist?

I have sexted once before, but I felt awkward about sending a photograph. I've never had the courage or trust to send a photo other than Snapchat that showed me in a bra. Most of the sexting that I or any of my friends do is just 'dirty' or 'suggestive' texts, which believe it or not is somewhat fun.



I do think that women enjoy sexting just as much as guys when they feel safe and comfortable; I don't think that a girl should be considered slutty or insecure about sending a picture or a dirty message just because the boy is the one asking for it. If a boy is too young to send a picture of a girl around or broadcast something that a girl sent him, it is the boy who is responsible.

"I believe there is a lot pressure on girls these days to be the best they can be. I've never been the type girl guys want so last year, when a boy from my English course started paying attention to me, I was thrilled. He was kind and called me beautiful, which is something that no one has ever done before. About a month later, he asked me for pictures. He kept asking for pictures, which made me uncomfortable. I was constantly yelling at him and getting angry every time I said "no". I felt like I was the culprit because I chose not reveal myself to him.



I realized that a guy who tries to make you do something is not worth your time. Every girl deserves someone who will cherish and love her for who is she, not what she looks like. "I realized that I was worth more than what I was settling to get."

"Sexting is acceptable. I've been able to find random Snapchat usernames on boys' Instagrams, Vine accounts, and Tumblrs. So, six nudes have been sent to boys all over the country. sexting Only one of the boys didn't send me one back."

"I believe sexting can be a personal choice. It's difficult to tell when it's okay and when it isn't. Some people sext, from my understanding, because they have low self-esteem. Sexting can be used to get compliments on one's body. These compliments give people confidence and make them feel beautiful. I believe that anyone who sexts, girls and boys, should consider the consequences.
