How To Make A Minecraft Bedrock Server

To run a Minecraft server, you need to download its zip file from Minecraft's official website. It contains server files that can be used for Windows or Ubuntu. You can either use your default file explorer to unzip it or use WinZip/WinRar software.

Note: The Alpha stage of the Bedrock server software was not completed as of March 2022. There are likely to be some bugs before the final release. Run the Minecraft Bedrock Service

The Minecraft server doesn't need to be installed before hosting it. This is unlike a Java Server. Once you have extracted the server files, let us get started. Ubuntu

Each Linux OS comes with its own "terminal" app for running custom commands. Just make sure that your system is running at least Ubuntu 18 or equivalent. To launch the server, you can use the following command: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server. After successfully running the command, you can jump onto the server and start playing.

Windows

These steps are required to create a Minecraft Bedrock Windows server: 1. First, we need to exempt Minecraft from UWP loopback restrictions. It prevents UWP app (like Minecraft Bedrock), to connect to the local Server. To do this, you can open the command prompt and become an administrator by right-clicking the icon in the start menu or selecting the option from the sub-menu.

2. Next, type the following command into the command prompt and hit enter. CheckNetIsolation.exe LoopbackExempt -a -p=S-1-15-2-1958404141-86561845-1752920682-3514627264-368642714-62675701-733520436 You can close the command prompt after executing the command.

3. Next, double click on the unzipped folder and right-click to open the "bedrock_server.exe".

4. Windows will automatically launch its firewall when you open the server file. Here, make sure that both the "private" and "public" networks options are selected. Next, click on "allow access".

5. Once the Firewall accepts an exception, the server starts running in the command line prompt.

Open System Port

Now that your OS and firewall have been configured to allow other Minecraft players to join, it is time to prepare the router. Yes, we will be going a little more into the technical stuff than in the earlier part. However, these easy-to understand steps will help you get your Minecraft Bedrock servers up and running. Find Server IP Address and IPv6 Addresses

Before anything else, we need details about the platform which hosts the Minecraft Bedrock servers. To do so, open Command Prompt and type the following command.

ipconfig /all

It will display your IPv4 or IPv6 address at the prompt. You can either close the window or save both addresses for later reference. Some routers require IPv6 instead of default gateway addresses so make sure you note it down. System Port Settings

A system port allows players from other networks to connect with your server and communicate with it. We will need to modify your router's port settings in order to make it open to other players.

Each router manufacturer has its own UI and settings dashboard. We can't address them all, so please visit SetupRouter.com. There you will find the steps to open your Port Forwarding settings. Enter Server Details

Finally, once you have reached the system ports settings of your router, look for and click "add service"/"create new" or a similar button. Next, enter the following information into the router:

- Server/Service/Port Name : Minecraft Server – Start Port: 19132, End Port: 19132

- Service Types: TCP/UDP

Minecraft Bedrock's default port ID is "19132". So, if there are other columns with "port" in their name, enter the same ID there as well. The router may require that you enter an IP Address, IPv6 Adress, or default gateway address. Your IP address is identical to the IPv4 Address you entered earlier via the command prompt. Invite Friends: Find Your Public IP Address

To join any dedicated Minecraft Bedrock Server, you will need the host’s public IP address. Port forwarding makes it so that the public IP address doesn't reveal any personal information. You can search Google for "what's my IP" to find the exact same information.

The search results will display your public IP address. You will need to copy the URL and share it to your friends who wish to join the server. You will also need this information to join your Minecraft Bedrock server, as you'll see in the next section. How to Join the Minecraft Bedrock server

With your server up and running, it's time to test it. The steps below are the same for you and your friends that want to join the server. Let's get started! 1. Click on the "Play” button from the homepage.

2. Next, click on Servers in the top column to load all active server.

3. Within the servers section, scroll down to the bottom of the server list and click on the "add server" button.

4. To join the server you will need to enter the details. You can give the server any name you like. The port number is 19132 unless you change it in the server properties. The server address is identical to your public IP.

Your Minecraft Bedrock server can be customized

Now that your server's up and running, it is time to customize it. A server automatically loads a vanilla survival environment, which is great for playing Minecraft seeds. But this is not enough for your server to be popular. So, let's understand our customization options. Server Properties

The most basic way to customize a server is by changing the properties of its world. To do this, you can open the file "server.properties" in notepad. It is located in the folder unzipped from where you run your world.

Within properties, you can edit the following features of your world: Game mode (Survival, Creative, or Adventure) & related settings

Cheats and difficulty

Maximum number of players along with conditions of joining

Server settings

World properties

Abilities of players

Resource Packs, Worlds

Change the appearance of a server is one way to make it stand out. To do this, download and install one of our best texture or resource pack by placing it into the "resource package" folder.

You can also use Minecraft maps to create your own custom maps. Simply place them in the "worlds” directory to access pre-built Minecraft worlds that can be shared with your friends. Server Commands

Commands work in Minecraft like cheats in other games. These commands give you almost developer-like powers to modify everything in your world without ever leaving the game. You can even edit server properties using these commands. To make the most of this feature, we have created a guide for Minecraft Bedrock commands. Close Your Minecraft Bedrock Service

Once they are done playing, you and your friends can simply leave the server by closing the game. But that's doesn't automatically save the progress. Instead, you need to open the command prompt in which your server runs. Next, enter "stop" in the prompt window and hit Enter.

The server will close immediately and save all your progress and changes to its world. This is the only way to close your server and save progress. Frequently Asked questions (FAQ).
