The problem I was having was predictability. I'd become super predictable, and therefore super exploitable, by c-betting every single flop but folding to any sign of resistance. It was the easiest thing in the world to call my c-bet and then pull a float play on me.
Study your opponents. See if you can read their play and if you can pick patterns in their betting strategy. Knowing how your opponents play will allow you to outsmart them.
A "Squeezing" bet is used to limit your opponents pot odds in a short-on the level* game. You use this bet when you have a strong hand and you've put your opponent on some kind of write. The odds are they will not hit their draw so you place a bet and form them pay to chase after their draw. This way you'll be good to accrual the size of the pot or they will fold to you as they do not long to risk chasing the draw.
On the flip side, you can use the continuation bet to build the pot when you actually have a real hand. One of the basic premises of poker is to get money in the pot when you have a strong hand. What better way to do it than to start betting right off the bat?
Often the answers to these questions will give you a better indication of whether or not you should call or not. It's better to just focus on winning money from worse/bad players than taking on better/more advanced players.
poker betting strategy If you hit the Flop, your bet may be smaller in nature in order to get your opponent to call and build a pot. If visit here missed the Flop, your bet should be much higher because your intent is to get him to fold. Too often I will see novice players make the opposite bet. They will miss the flop and then bet $50 into a $300 pot. That is asking for a call and you are building a pot that you may not be able to take down. You need to realize this before you make the bet.
Another trick is to let your opponents take each other out. Play big hands when you have them at the beginning, just to keep your stack alive, but don't risk it all unless you know you've got the nuts (best hand possible with the showing cards). This way, you'll let your opponents feast on each other while you sit back and collect chips now and then. Then when there's only a few left, you'll go to work, completely changing your betting strategy, and no one will be able to touch you.
