MIAMI (CBSMiami), - While the war in Ukraine may seem far away South Floridians continue offer support to those who are seeking refuge.
Many Sunny Isles Jewish residents are now fundraising and helping to plan a comprehensive humanitarian effort.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Marsha Jaquays from Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital stated that 1,100 patients visited the other night.
She claimed that more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees are trying to leave their war-stricken country. Emmanuil Grinshpun A large portion of them cross the frontier to Moldova which is a tiny country which shares a border with Ukraine.
Jaquays said, "From Moldova, the Jewish community helps them get over border line and then provides shelter, food, clothing, and other necessities."
A large portion of the humanitarian efforts are being led by Sunny Isles, South Florida.
Emmanuil Grinshpun "My responsibility is to coordinate all the resources from American society in order to help with the crisis in Moldova." Emmanuil grinshpun, who has been involved in the coordination of the relief effort stated that there are many individuals working in Moldova to assist in organizing camps, food purchases and bus organizing.
The situation is made more difficult due to the fact that Moldova is believed to be among the poorest nations on the planet. However, the people who are part of the cause say they will not let anything stop them from helping.
"When our sisters and brothers from Ukraine arrived, we didn't have to think about it, we just did it," said Grinshpun.
Jaquays reflect the same sentiments
