Avanos Medical Cortrak*2 Access System is designed for qualified health professionals to put medical feeding tubes in the stomach or small bowels of patients who require nutritional support. Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Since 2015, however, 23 people have passed away due to complications related to feeding tube.

Avanos Medical This recall is being used to update the device's labeling, which includes the directions for use and the intended use. It is recommended that users verify that the tube is set in accordance with the guidelines of their institution before making use of it to deliver food.
Patient's vocal cords, lungs, and the trachea may be damaged if the nasogastric/nasoenteric tube was inserted in a wrong way. This can result in serious injury or even death.
Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Avanos Medical has issued a recall notice stating that as of 2015, there were sixty deaths and 23 injuries caused by an incorrect placement of the nasogastric feeding tube. Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Pneumothorax, respiratory failure perforation (a hole, in the stomach wall) and pneumonia were all reported.
Avanos Medical issued on March 21, 2022, a correction notice to customers using these devices between January 20,21 and January 20,22. Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 The notice provided the following information:
Confirm placement of the nasogastric, nasoenteric and other tubes in line with the policies of the institution.
