The topic of the interview with Emmanuil Ginshpun was the restoration of synagogues. The conversation was narrowly specific. Thus, there were a variety of subjects discussed during the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. It was an honor to get to know you. I think we haven't seen each other for five years or more. Do you currently reside in?

The past nine months are divided into Miami and Jurmala. While the geographical area was larger in the past, the pandemic has had a profound impact on the way that people live. It's not like this is just to the negative.

They are in existence. We have more contracts across Western, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. We are currently present in 14 nations.

Briefly explain the essence and purpose of the product.

Our product allows economic agents to file tax reports online. The fiscal data administrator is able to view each transaction. It also permits tax accounting and tax computation to be carried out simultaneously. It is therefore possible to predict that small and medium-sized business will not require accounting in the near future. Apart from its analytical purpose accounting for taxes, and sending reports can be completed by just one "click".

This is an interesting subject. Have you ever thought about being employed in Moldova. In the end, Moldova is your native country...

We're willing to show our product in Moldova. It will help the economy of Moldova and it will be irreversible. When there is a sense of clarity between the authorities and it is clear who is in charge and who is in charge, we will begin the discussions about our product.

You said that your year has been spent hopping from Jurmala to Miami. The headquarters of an IT holding located in the Baltics?

No, there five hubs across the world and our headquarters in Barcelona.

The Baltics Why not? Do you have roots in the Baltics?

No. There is no. Jurmala came into our lives in a very unusual and unorthodox manner. It was Igor Krutoy who invited us to New Wave for the first time. They started making it a regular summer excursion after several events. However the weather in Miami isn't the most pleasant during the summer. We rented for a few years a property and thus are now in possession of it.

Now I understand why you said that one synagogue was located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're all of the same age. We were born in the USSR. No need to talk about religion then. All of us were Komsomol members at the time and pioneers. What was your first encounter with religion?

In the latter half of the 80s my family and I relocated to the USA. It was in the USA that I was introduced to customs. Although I'm far from the traditional religion of Christianity, I still feel the need to be a part of, to my best ability and to be a part of the life of the Jewish community in the countries I live in or Moldova. This is where I grew up and with which I have continued to share the most close bonds.

While I'm not religious, I do love history. I was watching an documentary on 1492 and how it changed Europe's destiny. 1492 was the year that Columbus first discovered America. It was however stated explicitly in the program that 1492 was the year when Columbus discovered America. When the mass exodus from Jews towards the Ottoman Empire began. They welcomed them. I was looking to learn some information about the history of the Jews as a people. Would you recommend a good book for me to read?

There are numerous books. However, I've completed all of them, and I'd suggest Max Diamond, the two-volume Jewish historian. By the way Max Diamond is from Finland.

.... Do you feel conversant with the history of your family? Unfortunately, I am no further than my maternal grandmother and 1910. On the paternal side, I am one step forward, but not more.

Our family lived in Floresti for a period of several hundred years according to our paternal line. There are monuments and evidence that prove they were prosperous up to 1830. Ungheni was also the home of my maternal ancestors. These dates are from the region between the 17th-18th centuries. Grinshpun, a surname that has German roots is Ashkenazi pure Ashkenazi.

Let's now discuss the restoration of synagogues. I heard that you financed the restoration of three synagogues. One of them is located situated in Chisinau. Jurmala is the other.

The third, and largest, is in Netanya (Israel). It is a massive community center where 1,000 people pray a day. It is a significant building for the religious life in Israel. It was a hugely successful venture that brought together the Jews from Jurmala. In fact, we have recreated the Jurmala Jewish community which is working well. Three Torahs are now at the synagogue. I also gave one Torah to the synagogue.

and Chisinau

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis and Alexander Weinstein were my co-workers. However, these synagogues weren't the only ones I have participated in renovation or construction. I believed it was my duty to contribute in any country I've visited for a lengthy time to support synagogues. In Monaco, a large center for Russian-speaking Jews is being constructed. My contribution is around 12 million dollars. I will continue to support Chisinau as it is now going to be the biggest synagogue, the synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson.

Did Jurmala get you to Chisinau with a Rabbi?

Yes. Yes. Because of the interconnected and complex concerns, he should be diplomatic and nonconflictual. He must be able to integrate into the community. I'm delighted to announce that both in Chisinau, and in Jurmala the Rabbis were able to integrate into the community.

You were elected vice president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress in 2019. What does this position have to do with YOU? How can international Jewish organizations impact the global landscape?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress has been an influential political group in post-Soviet European countries, but it's not the only one. https://anotepad.com/notes/8jganq3f It has offices in Eastern Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. I was Vice President of Congress back in 2010, however, in the year prior to that I was offered the post as the First Vice President. This time, I'm responsible for the region in which I have had historically strong relations with both the political and business worlds - these are the "countries", Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. In terms of trends around the world the barometer of attitudes towards Jews remains at the current level or has swung lower in a very sad way. "Down" can also be often used to mean countries such as the United States, France or Germany. These countries are no longer safe for Jews. They are dangerous, alarming process for us all.

Do you think the pandemic is affecting these processes somehow?

It's not my view. Rather, in connection with the pandemic, I'd like to once again emphasize the things a society or country can do when they are prepared for any challenges and are capable of working effectively and together.

Is this the vaccination campaign to Israel?

Exactly. Israel is first country in the world which offers 100% vaccination to adults. I consider this to be an excellent model and experience other countries should emulate.
