아이뉴스24 안희권 기자] 온라인 광고강자 구글이 애드워즈와 더블클릭 등을 새이름으로 변경하고 제품라인을 단순화했다.
그동안 광고상품 이름이 제각각이어서 고객이 혼동하는 경우가 많았다. 구글은 리브랜딩을 통해 이 문제해결에 나섰다.
구글은 주력광고상품인 구글 애드워즈 를 구글애즈, 광고주용 더블클릭과 구글 애널리틱스360 스위트를 구글 마케팅 플랫폼, 퍼블리셔용 더블클릭과 더블클릭 광고 거래소를 구글 애드 매니저로 통합했다.
구글은 핵심제품의 라인업을 그대로 유지한채 일부 제품의 브랜드를 구글이라는 이름아래 변경해 이용자가 쉽게 상품을 파악할 수 있도록 했다.
구글은 회사설립 이후 시장 환경 변화에 맞춰 필요한 기술업체를 인수하고 다양한 신기술을 개발해 광고상품이 매우 복잡하고 그 숫자도 많아졌다.
이에 광고주나 퍼블리셔, 광고대행사들이 자사에 맞는 상품을 고르는데 어려움을 겪어왔다. 구글은 3개의 브랜드로 상품축을 단순화해 이 문제를 해소했다. 대대적인 브랜드 변경에도 광고료는 이전과 동일하게 유지된다.
구글은 지난해 광고사업을 통해 400억달러 매출을 올렸으며 올해 페이스북과 함께 디지털 광고시장을 58% 이상 장악할 것으로 점쳐졌다.
