Absolvere their latest album will surely maim and smash. The band's brand of brutal death metal is a mix of blackened, heavy, and hardcore with maniacal singing that will inflict pain, dismay, and terror on everyone who hears it.
The record is an homage that pays tribute to the glory days of deathcore without going overboard. Absolvere has a more polished sound than Inner Secrets. It doesn't attempt to reinvent the wheels or do anything new. The trio is able to navigate the landmines created by the alleged rapists or abusers that populate their history. Their decision to stay together as a trio shows integrity when faced with scumbag claims.
Thankfully, they avoid the pitfalls associated with slam-oriented groups like Chelsea Grin. Songs such as "Nameless", and "Hollow Prison", are a powerful rush of adrenaline. The vocals sound great, and there are some heavy riffs. The breakdowns have a mixed bag. While they enhance tracks such as "Blood Seal", and "Revelations of a Silent King", others, such the slow-burning churning of "Totem", sound like they were straight out 2006. SignsOfTheSwarmmerch Of The Swarm are able to create an album that will please the ears. The music is hypnotizing and the vocals among the best in this genre.
