Lithium-ion battery anode materials mainly include carbon, graphite, silicon, tin, cobalt, etc., and the common classification methods of lithium-ion battery carbon anode materials include natural graphite anode materials, artificial graphite anode materials, amorphous carbon anode materials and silicon-carbon composite anodes materials etc.

The characteristics of lithium-ion battery carbon anode materials are as follows:

1.High specific capacity: Carbon anode materials have a high specific surface area and can provide more reaction surfaces, so they have a high lithium intercalation/deintercalation capacity. The specific capacity of natural graphite is about 372mAh/g, artificial graphite can reach 350-360mAh/g, and amorphous carbon can reach 250-300mAh/g.

2.Long cycle life: Since the chemical reaction between carbon anode material and lithium is reversible, its cycle life is relatively long. At the same time, the carbon negative electrode material also has good stability and anti-overcharge ability, which can maintain the safety performance of the battery.

3.Low price: The cost of carbon anode materials is relatively low, and the raw materials are easy to obtain, which is a widely used commercial material.

4.High safety: Compared with other negative electrode materials, carbon anode materials have better thermal stability and safety, and are not prone to dangerous situations such as overheating and explosion.

In lithium-ion batteries, soft carbon is usually used as anode material for high-power batteries, while hard carbon is suitable for anode materials for high-energy batteries. Carbon anode materials are one of the most used anode materials in lithium-ion batteries due to their high specific capacity, long cycle life, low cost, and high safety.
