Will Hunting is a boy from South Boston and works as a janitor at MIT. One day he sees a proof on the chalkboard that the professor has given to his students to solve before the end of the semester. Will solves it the next day. He then proceeds to get in a fight and is arrested. After the professor of the mathematics class discovers that it was Will who solved the problem, he gets Will released under his supervisions. There are two conditions. To meet with the professor every week to discuss mathematics, and that he sees a therapist. After talking to several therapists, Will goes to Sean Maguire. He was the professor’s roommate in college, and now works at a community college, teaching psychology. He is the first therapist to go to more than one meeting with Will. During the first session, he is talking with Will but he gets very defensive when Will starts making jokes about his wife. After, we see Sean in his home, alone, with a bottle of booze, days of dirty dishes in the sink. In the next session, he explains how Will doesn’t know what he is talking about, as he hasn’t experienced anything real. Hasn’t seen the Cistine chapel, hasn’t experienced real love. Through this conversation, he reveals his wife died after a long struggle with cancer.
