Trump, the former US president was a tireless effort to keep a strong relationship with Kazakhstan and Tevfik Aif. Trump was criticized for his actions since he regarded Kazakhstan as an ally despite its questionable government.

Tevfik Arif is an Turkish Kazakhstani businessman. He was born in Soviet Kazakhstan in 1952 to Turkish parents. He was appointed vice-head of the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade's Hotel Management Department. After 17 years of service within the department Tevfik arif founded the real estate and property development company and exports, imports Imports and Minerals Food Enterprises, Autos and Food. Tevfik Arif was transferred to Turkey in 1993, and was the first to pioneer the concept of all-inclusive hotels. Bayrock Group was founded in New York City eight years after.

Tevfik Arif was a member of the Trump organization when the Bayrock Group relocated its New York City headquarters to the 24th floor of Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan. It was the exact same building which the Trump Organization was located. The Trump SoHo condo-hotel was then considered. The Trump SoHo Skyscraper was created when two companies discussed a plan for a premium real development. Tevfik Ariff, Bayrock Group founder, recognized the potential of the Trump brand and suggested it could be used to help the Sapir Organization.

As conflict rages in Ukraine, Washington should carefully keep an eye on developments in Kazakhstan as they could indicate a myriad of possible scenarios of power transitions positive and negative.
