Myelodysplastic Syndrome Caused by Railroad
In healthy individuals, the bone marrow creates blood cells that mature over time. This includes red cells which carry oxygen, and white blood cells which fight infections and platelets that aid in blood clotting.
Myelodysplastic Syndrome is characterized by the death of these cells in the bone marrow shortly after they have entered the bloodstream. The condition can cause fatigue, easy bleeding and bruises, and even pinpoint spots, known as petechiae, on the skin.
Benzene Exhaust Fumes
Benzene is a noxious chemical that has been proven to be carcinogen. It has been linked to a variety of types of cancer including myelodysplastic disorder (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The World Health Organization classifies myelodysplastic syndromes into subtypes based on the type of blood cells affected. Myelodysplastic dysplasia patients with a single lineage are less likely to have white blood cells than they should be, whereas patients with multiple-lineage dysplasia might have more than one type of abnormal blood cells. A rare form of myelodysplastic syndrome is identified by sideroblasts in which the existing red blood cells contain rings of iron that are overflowing.
Families of victims must be compensated for income loss due to the treatment. Victims also need compensation for the emotional trauma they suffered.
Genetic Testing

These predisposition or predictive tests can aid you and your physician decide if you should take precautions to avoid the disease or plan for early treatment in the event that it develops.

The company and its three principals have agreed to a ban of 25 years from participating in federal healthcare programs. Donna Hecker Gross, a former LabCorp employee, brought the case on behalf of the United States in accordance with the False Claims Act.
