An Overview of Army Clothing
In history, the military costume has been in various forms. Military uniforms have evolved over time, from colorful and ornamented Renaissance uniforms to camouflage clothing used for battlefield and battle in modern times.

There are so many factors to take into consideration that it's no surprise that army outfits today are as complex, layered and multi-layered as their predecessors from centuries before. However, some aspects of a soldier's outfit will always be the same. In 1789 uniform regulations for US Army were designed based on British examples. A blue coat was specified, with colored faces indicating the region of origin for each regiment: New England units wore white facings while those in southern states wore ones in blue. The US Army has been developing and refining its current uniforms on a phased basis. The Army Green Service Uniform has been fielded in waves. It will initially be available to Initial Entry training Soldiers and Drill Sergeants (CIIPs), at four IET/OSUT central initial issue points, beginning 1FY21.

In creating the Army Green Service Uniform, user feedback was an important consideration. During a limited user evaluation, soldiers provided valuable input regarding the design and fit of the uniform. This allowed the development of an improved service cap, better socks, and many other enhancements.
