Comps are a way for casinos to compete for gamblers' time and money. Comps include free drinks, meals and reduced rates for rooms. They also offer tickets to shows and tickets that extend to RFB (all expenses for room, food, and beverage), as well as airfare reimbursement or flyback certificate and tickets to the Super Bowl. Comp programs are inherently designed to build customer loyalty and to foster return visits with the patron's wallets and/or purses in hand. Customers don't need to be wealthy to enjoy these discounts or freebies. This is partly due to the current economic situation in Las Vegas. check here and their gambling bankrolls have declined significantly in Las Vegas. Because of this, gaming properties are offering more comps to help gamblers enter their doors. My wife and I stayed in Vegas for nine days, late October 2008. We didn't need to pay anything for our nights (all comped rooms). And we're not high-roll gamblers. Our gambling interests include blackjack with a minimum wager of $10-25, nickel or penny denomination slots, video poker and slot machines that can be swung at 40 cents to $ 2,00 per spin.
Comp awards are usually determined by average wager x hours played, x bets/hour, and x expected house edge. X % casino return to players. (Generally ranges from 25 - 40 percent of the expected win by a casino). For example, let's assume you play a decent blackjack game (player favorable rule set and you play accurate basic strategy) and your average bet is 10 dollars per hand. A 6-deck "average" shoe game will see you playing 60 to 80 hands an hour, depending on whether there are three or four other players. Many casinos use 60 hands per hour and a house edge of 2% when figuring their expected dollar returns from players and resultant comp calculations. Comps are typically returned by most casinos to players at around 40% of the expected win. Let's say you play for 5 hours, hopefully at more than one table. A reasonable comp calculation would be $10 (average win) X 5 (hours spent) X 60 hands/hr. X.02 (house edge), X.40 (proportionate return to players) This means that you have wagered about $ 3000.00 cumulatively (surprised? X .02 = $60.00 X .40 = $24.00 in earned comps.
It is important to remember that comps can be found in Las Vegas or elsewhere. Ask them. For table game comps, at some Vegas properties you might have to wager $15-25 per hand. Off-strip Las Vegas casinos may be more generous with meal comps than Strip locations. I have played 2-3 hours at Orleans with a 10-20 dollar average wager and never had any problems obtaining buffet comps for 2 when requested. There are many different comp programs available between casinos and corporate gaming organizations. Comp program details can be found at specific locations. Players need to determine their preferred location. If a play er's club representative/host is unclear about the exact method of calculating earned comps, don't be surprised. The amount of patronage and season can affect how comps are calculated. Comps for low to middle-level players may be harder to obtain during high traffic times. It is suggested that gamblers get to know the slot / table game host they feel comfortable with. In general it's a good idea soliciting a host of the opposing gender. Communicating with a host can lead to real dollar value for future visits (minimize losses / enhance winnings); part of a host's job is to enhance the player's experience while gambling. Many properties offer meal comps to pit bosses. You must play within your bankroll, use lower house advantages, understand the property comp program, ASK, and gamble within your budget. But "chasing comps" (i.e. playing too long for a meal) can increase your gambling losses. Use common sense.
Blackjack is a great place to get comps. There are usually lower house odds in blackjack than in other casino games. Players can also choose games with player-favorable guidelines and learn basic strategy. These rules allow players to use tactics to slow down the game, which means that there are fewer hands per hour. This will increase their chance of comp accrual. best games to play can slow down the game by talking at long tables, taking frequent breaks or making calls on your cell phone, as well as playing at crowded table. You can also increase your bet levels in blackjack when the pit bosses or table hosts observe specific play. This will help to improve your table play ratings as well as accrue comp levels. When one isn't being monitored by casino staff, the bet level can be decreased.
In order to count comps in slot / video poker play, players need to ensure that their club cards are properly inserted. Video poker generally offers higher payback return percentages vs slot machines but comps for VP play are generally less for the same wagers / time played as compared to slots. It's a standard casino tradeoff mechanism. If you are looking for a casino that you enjoy playing in and have the time to do so, it may be possible to identify specific machines that offer a higher payout percentage. This is a fact that we know; the key is in identifying them. The machines of higher denomination have higher payback percentages, i.e. $1 slots vs. $0.01 machines. most played games and financial management will determine your ability to enjoy these games. There are many payback percentage variations even within penny slots. Common sense and willingness can help you find the highest paying machines. It's important to not take a large amount of money and hope for the next payout. Regarding slot machines, we suggest a stop-loss approach. When we have reached 40-45% of the original buy in amount, which is $20-25 dollars credit after a $50.00 buy-in, we will stop playing any given machine. While the average slot machine is draining your bankroll, it's possible to find higher payback machines through observation and real play. This allows you to accumulate comps. Video poker with solid paytables is a great way of accumulating comps. This paytable (minimum 9/6 Blackjacks Or Better or Double bonus) means that the machine will pay a 9 for 1 full house payout and a 6 for 1 flush payout. Although it's slower than many other slots machines, it's still a viable option for comps. It's important to realize that the key factor is identifying the machines with greater payback percentages (ie "full-pay" machines or those with close to 100% payback over time, though individual sessions can and do still result in losses, of course).
Look out for casino promotions such as blackjack enhancements and point multiplier dates. Also, be sure to use the gambling coupons (blackjack match play or first-card poker ace coupons) which will increase your expectation of a comp game. The current economic climate in Las Vegas specifically, though generally down, is conducive to comp offer acquisition.
