I've been in the insurance business for several years now. When I first got started among the things that is always preached is cold calling. Walk and talk also, or quite simply, get out available in the market place and pass and talk to people. Just drop in, say hello, and leave a card. Ok last one, friends, neighbors, and relatives. Do not forget to call all of these people. Let them know you are in business to help them. One of the best methods to not get invited to the household picnic would be to start prospecting the family. And website won't get invited to friend's parties either if you are always hitting in it for business.
So, does cold calling work? Sure to an extent. How many people do you have to call to obtain 5 appointments weekly? I know people that actually call for 3 days to set appointments for just one day. I am sorry but I just have a hard time doing that. It's just not me. If it's afterward you go for it. Don't read any more. By far many people usually do not or cannot handle the rejection on the telephone. With me it's not the rejection it's just the time involved. I had rather market in a way that has people calling me.
Think about purchasing leads? Well you still will probably call them. And how much will you pay for leads only to get disconnected numbers, hang ups, people letting you know they never asked for anyone to call them. And lots of individuals get upset with your call. Tell you to call them back that night at 9:00 PM when you don't really want to be working. It becomes a corporate jungle and typically, you may spend a large amount of money for leads as soon as you figure your time and energy, it could not be worth it.
Does any of this sound familiar? If your business requires leads and contacts, I'm sure it is very familiar to you.
So what is it possible to do? You must have a system which allows you and demonstrates how to get people calling you. Consider about it, once a person calls you, you're now nearer to closing the offer because that person is drawn to you or your product. As soon as you develop those simple tactics, the selling process becomes much easier as well as your cold-calling days will soon end.
