Medications for Seizures
Anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) are the mainstay of treatment for most people with seizures. They can reduce the frequency and severity of seizures, but they cannot stop them completely.

These are the most promising new types of neuromodulation for epilepsy. They are like a pacemaker for your brain, except that they monitor your seizures and deliver electrical stimulation only when a seizure is detected.
The NeuroPace RNS System, for example, is a matchbook-size implant that monitors brain waves and delivers electrical pulses when seizures are detected.
These devices can alert nearby family members or caregivers if a person has a seizure, by phone calls or text messages, depending on the device. They can also alert emergency medical services if the person is unconscious or in danger of harm during a seizure.
