Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve is exiting his blocky world and entering Telltale's realm of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game from the folks behind The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Like Telltale's other work, Minecraft: Story Mode will be episodic and will be available across a range of platforms when it comes out "some time in 2015." Apparently Microsoft's promise to keep Minecraft multiplatform is still in place regardless of the acquisition.
Telltale describes the game as a partnership with Mojang and states that it will not be an extension of Minecraft. Instead, it will be a separate series "driven by player preference." Mojang and Telltale both point out that they are working with the community on the narrative. Mojang specifically states, "We're certain that we will not make an official story for Steve [the main protagonist in Minecraftor to explain the world of Minecraft in depth."
There aren't any videos or images of the game in action yet, but we expect the same distinct style of art similar to Minecraft. servers Minecraft.
