Warcraft Novels Reading Order

Warcraft Novels Reading Order

If you're a fan of World of Warcraft, whether you're a reader or not, chances are that you've heard that there are a slew of novels set in the Warcraft universe that expand on the lore of Azeroth greatly. Many of these novels feature some of our favorite prominent characters from World of Warcraft, like Thrall, and Jaina Proudmore and expand on their stories as well.

A challenge one could encounter when reading the extended universe novels in any fictional universe is the best place to start and which order one should read the stories in. It's easy to lose yourself amid the vast library of stories, particularly when you're looking forward to reading them. azov For the Warcraft novels, at a minimum there's a place to start and a set of reading instructions that will guarantee a satisfying reading experience.

For the best results, begin with the first number and keep going until you're finished. Have fun!

A quick reminder that the War of the Ancients trilogy is set LONG before Rise of the Horde. To get a better understanding of the story, it's an excellent idea to read them following the previous stories and start them immediately after Day of the Dragon.

There's a little overlap with The Last Guardian being part of two collections however, you can purchase each of them for $15 and $20 on Amazon. So you can literally get nearly half the collection for less than $60 if you bargain-hunted.

The Warcraft Chronicles Volumes are an excellent way to broaden your Warcraft knowledge, but not necessarily in a strong narrative. They are full of lore and history about Warcraft, and are organized chronologically. Beginning with the formation of the universe and the Warcraft Mythos, and ending with the Cataclysm These books are full of interesting tales of lore.

I can vouch for these volumes personally as I received the first as a gift and acquired the others later. The first volume, which provides a detailed account of Warcraft's cosmology, I found particularly fascinating. It also details some of the history of Pandaria.

We hope you find that helpful. You can now go through the Warcraft stories to your heart's content, and not worry about if something is missing or if you are reading too much ahead. Enjoy yourself and have a wonderful day!

These guides were a great help to me during lockdown.

There appears to be a gap in the books prior to Durotans death, and I think the idea is that this issue is addressed in WC1.

This is a fantastic article! As a suggestion, you could include the short stories (most of them are here: https://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/20998-reading-order-of-warcraft-books-and-novels/), and also the comic books, including the Legion ones ( https://play.google.com/store/search?c=books&q=world+of+warcraft+legion)

Are these just the WoW books or is it both the WoW and Warcraft books?

Do you think there's a "best book" to begin with? Or author who is the best? It appears that there are a lot of authors, so I was curious if any books are bad or skippable and which ones people liked the most.
