Minecraft Texture Packs: Building Creative Constructions Using Improved Graphics

Minecraft is a video game that allows players to construct structures using textured cubes within the three-dimensional world. The alpha version of the game first released by Mojang, an Swedish company, in May of 2009. In December 2010, a new beta version was released. Mojang recently released the latest version of Minecraft for Android and iOS platforms at MineCon 2011. The game is not available by all Android-based devices. As of now, Minecraft is exclusively available only on Xperia Play.



Graphically, there is nothing too impressive about Minecraft. The game is available in low-resolution graphics and there aren't any shades within the game graphics. The drawbacks can be addressed with Minecraft Texture packs or Mods. The Minecraft Texture Mods or Packs provide more backgrounds options in the Minecraft world. Mods can also boost the resolution of the images. Basically, aside from altering the graphics, there are no other uses for the Mods. However, different backgrounds can make gaming more fun and less boring. At the moment the available Mods or texture packs are only available on Macs and Windows computers.



Many texture packs are available for you to download and use on your Minecraft game. Optifine is one of them. The Optifine mod is extremely popular due to its texture pack having both improved performance and graphical qualities. The changes aren't too dramatic. Nevertheless, the mod can smooth some effects in the game. Water Shade Alpha is another example of an Minecraft mod. This mod can't be used with Optifine because they are not compatible. Water Shade Alpha texture pack makes the water effects of the game look more realistic.



These are the steps needed to install a texture package on Windows.



1. Make sure you have an extractor program like WinRar.



2. Click "run" in the start bar. If you use Windows XP, type "%appdata%.minecraftbin"; if you use Windows Vista or 7, you will need to type "C:Users*YourUserName*AppDataRoaming.minecraftbin".



3. After entering the data, you'll notice that a folder will appear. You will find minecraft.jar within it.



4. Right click on the file, then click the "Open with ..." option from the pop-up menu and select "WinRar Archiver". This will open WinRar, which will display the folders and files with a png extension.



5. Drag the files from the texture pack and drop them into WinRar directly. NEED REALTOR This will change the texture in the game. The new textures will be ready to play.
