Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner Bentley's coachbuilding unit bespoke, has created a unique keycase to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Bentley brand. It is made of Dark Stained Burr Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it comes with a flying 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

It's a great present to welcome a new owner into their lavish vehicle.

Aesthetics

As a design-driven company, Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. It is evident in the precise location of its quilting the choice of leather sourced from by-products of cattle production, the wood from sustainably managed forests and the ingenious patterns that are etched on its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its beautiful sculptural design is highlighted by carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. The rear of the tonneau in the Continental GT, for instance included the largest piece of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this unique design, craftsmanship and attention to detail that has established Bentley as the most sought-after automotive brand. The company continues to push the boundaries with the latest technology and manufacturing techniques, such as the introduction of an instrument cluster with digital technology and an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof and a crafted docking station for Apple iPads and electrochromic 'smart' glass that can be switched between opaque and transparent by a button.

A century after its creation, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership following years of wrangling with BMW it celebrated its centenary in the year 2019. The marque planned a number special events and launches to commemorate the occasion before the pandemic was declared a priority.

Design

Bentley is a premium car manufacturer that produces lavish and extravagant cars. But even bentley keys are an oath. The Mulsanne was redesigned and redeveloped by Bentley Mulliner to become the ultimate Grand Touring car. The rear seats are designed to give passengers unparalleled comfort and privacy. They were inspired by the luxurious private aircraft. The bespoke heating and ventilation as well as air conditioning system was designed to give each passenger the perfect climate control setting.

The Mulsanne comes with twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine with 560bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. This power is paired with a new suspension system that offers Bentley's signature quiet ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a bespoke specification known as the Centenary Specification for vehicles built in 2019. The cabin is equipped with cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are stitched in Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. A custom Bentley key case is included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key comes with an opening button for the trunk and another which starts the car. The key also has a button to turn on the parking brake. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spaces. This feature helps you get into and out of your vehicle.

The key is constructed from vegetable tanned leather. It takes about two days to make each one. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed, sealed, and then polished to produce a premium result. It is robust compact and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton's large car key, but it feels more heavy and luxurious.

Secure-A-Key is also included to help stop keyless entry theft. bentley key fob is inserted into the remote control fob and disables it if the key is not used for a short period of time. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the car.

Personalisation


Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own vehicle. Customers sit at a set of images called "mood stations" and pick a set of photos ranging from picturesque vistas to sporting events - that will inspire them to design their own. After each selection is made, a pattern will emerge that reveals the model and color preferences for the personalized Bentley.

The resulting configuration is saved to individual R.F.I.D.-enabled bentley key fob which are handed out to the guests in a custom-made key case. Keys can also be equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that illuminate the door's opening path with the owner's name, or emblem when they are approaching the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. The reluctance to embrace modern technology is the key to this time-consuming effort. Instead of using a machine to place the perfectly matched cross-stitched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, rather than using the built-in sensors to guide them into parallel and perpendicular spots.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization skills with the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays homage to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays tribute to the founder William Osler Bentley. The limited-edition cars have 100 of them. the key with a special design that shows an image of the 1930 8 Liter's crankshaft.
