Sven Gamsky is better known as Still Woozy. His music has a similar sound with a psychedelic pop sound. The music can cause anyone to dance in their bedroom. The same enthusiasm was infused to his live shows as he proved on Friday at Brooklyn Steel.
The opening 10 seconds of the video for his song "Goodie Bag" are pure magic. Sven Gamsky (the masked musician who's in the background behind Still Woozy) puts his photo and asks, "Who the hell is that fucking nose?" The moment has been watched over 1.7 millions times on YouTube.
Gamsky met with Flaunt to talk about the singer's Bay Area roots and influences, his turning point in music, as well as his newest song, Kenny. The rapper also discussed his debut album, and the reason why he named the album Still Woozy. Watch the full interview above.
The show was filled with products from the band, like hoodies, tees and hats. People wore casual attire, sexy clothes, and fun hairstyles. This diversity was a testimony to the type of fan Gamsky draws; his fans aren't afraid to express themselves and are truly enjoying their time at his shows.
The intimate environment at the Observatory was perfect for the evening due to the venue's sloped floor making it easier to see over the heads of your neighbours as opposed to a conventional concert venue. The relaxed crowd was a breath of fresh air Also, while many performances turn into fights to get a front row seat, this was one night that everyone was content watching the show from any vantage the point. Even security personnel seemed casual and relaxed, which added to the ambience. Still Woozy T-shirts was a wonderful way to end my week. I came away feeling refreshed and excited for what's to come from Still Woozy.
