GRiZ, a Detroit-born electronic artist and Detroit native, has had a successful career ever since the release of his debut album in the year 2011. He has released six studio albums and an EP, and some mixtapes. He has also performed at every major festival in the world. For him, the most important part of his career is the way in which the music he creates gives back. So, he established GRiZMAS in 2014, to help raise funds and awareness of arts education for the inner city children. This year he is having a pop-up store in Capitol Park and an extensive assortment of holiday-themed merchandise, including Tote bags, tees blankets, hoodies as well as candles made in collaboration with Detroit Rose, ornaments and even a specially GRiZMAS blend coffee roast. https://www.grizmerch.com/ offers a regular coat drive and toy collection, in collaboration with St. Vincent de Paul along with a fundraising auction and the gift wrapping station that is based on donations.
GRiZ is also hosting 12 days of Grizmas starting on November 29 at his headquarters, which is the GRiZMAS Workshop in downtown Detroit (1265 Griswold Street). The event will include different activities each day like singing and painting classes. The final event will be two main shows at Masonic Temple in Detroit on December 9-10. The proceeds from the GRiZMAS Workshop as well as ticket sales to the show will benefit Seven Mile Music. This non-profit organization raises money for music, art programming, and coding among Detroit's urban youth.
