There's something appealing about fairytales and characters from fantasy. Their dark magic, their sense of danger - they're just so tempting. Disney and Aniplex have explored this fascination with wickedness in their latest mobile games, Twisted Wonderland. The game follows a group of students from Night Raven College, a famous school for young Black Mages. The characters are influenced by the most famous Disney bad guys, including Dire Crowley, Divus Crewel, Grim, Ashton Varfas, Mozus Trein, and more. Yana Toboso, the creator behind Black Butler, was the lead character designer for this project.
It's no surprise that the game is so popular across Japan. There are a variety of products available. To show their appreciation for the characters from twisty wonderland, fans are able to purchase Acrylic stands, badges and frame cards. Goodsmile has released the first set of Nendoroid figures from this series.
Disney Store Japan also put out a lovely range of merchandise that includes stickers, postcards and clear documents that feature stunning illustrations of the students and staff of Night Raven College. Otaku Lottery Ichiban Kuji also featured some Twisted Wonderland items in their latest collection of merchandise. The acrylic stands were extremely popular and sold out almost immediately. They were then re-released in June, allowing eager fans another opportunity to get their hands on the villains' uniforms.
Apart from the merchandise, the mobile app lets players collect character cards which unlock different accessories in the game. You can earn special costumes by passing challenging rhythms. The game features a strong storyline, and a lot of reference to Disney properties.
Parents should be aware that the game can contain some violence, but it isn't graphic. The game's complicated mechanics will likely require some help from children.
