The Cure are a band that has written music history over the course of 40 years. With their dark songs and the associated look (dark kohl, smudged lipstick and frilly shirts) they have contributed significantly to the genre of gothic rock. The band members, including guitarist and lead singer Robert Smith, have always emphasised that they want to be considered as a group that can not easily be pigeonholed.
