The band was formed in Columbus, Ohio in 2009. They began their journey with three independent albums. The first of these, Three Songs, caught the interest of Fueled by Ramen Records, and their success was on the horizon. The band's breakthrough was in 2015 with Blurryface the result of a mix of alternative rock and pop, which sent them rocketing up the charts.
Twenty One Pilots actually the name of a four-member group. After a couple of successful years of independent music, Nick Thomas and Chris Salih have left the band. Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun remain as members. Since then, the duo has been dominating the music industry. They have been awarded Grammys and written massive smashes for blockbuster films such as "Heathens".

The character Joseph is portrayed as an alien, with eyes that are stylized. It's akin to the logo.
