Minecraft is an open-world video game that was initially developed by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later, it was developed and published by Mojang. Minecraft's innovative and building features let players create structures using textured cubes inside the 3D world that is generated procedurally. Exploration, resource gathering, crafting, combat, and other activities are all part of the game. Multiple gameplay modes are available, including survival mode where the player must acquire resources to build a world and maintain health and a creative mode in which players have unlimited resources to construct with and fly in an adventure mode, where players can play maps that are created by other players and spectator mode in which players can fly around and cut through blocks, but they are unable to place blocks. The PC version is well-known for its mods by third parties that include new characters, items, and quests.
The beta version was released to the public on May 17, 2009. After a gradual update, the full version was made available on November 18, 2011. A version for Android was released one month earlier on October 7, and an iOS version was released on November 17, 2011. The game was released on Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live Arcade title on May 9 2012, and was released on the PlayStation 3 on December 17 2013, on the PlayStation 4 (September 4, 2014) on the Xbox One on September 4 2014, and on the PlayStation 4 on September 4 September 4, 2014. On September 15 2014, Microsoft announced a deal to acquire Mojang and the rights to the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion. The deal was completed on November 6 on the 6th of November, 2014.
