Ice Nine Kills are a melodic, metalcore band that has developed a name of their own over the last two years. The band has established themselves as the leaders with their dark Every Trick In The Book and then further developing the idea with 2018's The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood the band have created an exciting world for their legion of fans through high-concept videos performing shows in theatres, as well as imaginative fan-to-band communication.
That world is based heavily on the horror genre and it's clear that this is the genre where they are comfortable in their own style. Although it's a tactic that could be a bit cliche at times and Wurst Vacation's German voice and wording isn't an enticing reference to Hostel for instance However, overall it's an idea that is well-suited to the band and seems to be resonating with their fanbase.
It's a concept that's been expanded by Horrorwood, with the band making excellent use of the greater concessions to a smoother and more melodic sound the fact that they're a scene-oriented band allows the band, while also taking on some genuine heaviness in the places they can.
