Doctor Strange gets a major upgrade
Doctor Strange's iconic costume is one of the most iconic in the Marvel Universe. When it was time for him to face the Multiverse, Benedict Cumberbatch received an upgrade. Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios' president, detailed his requests to the film's costume designers Graham Churchyard in a release. Churchyard worked hard to create a suit for Strange that was unique while working within the parameters of the characters.

The costume was given a little color, which had not been done since Steve Ditko created the original character. This subdued style worked well in the Silver Age, and established the Sorcerer as a hero with wit and control. This costume also set the tone for future costumes that added a little color. The style has been carried from one incarnation into another.

This new suit has a little more red in it. The tunic, a crucial piece in any Dr Strange costume, has a new red collar. It now rises up from the neckline, rather than falling into a cuff as it did on virtually all other versions. The collar's red color contrasts with the cloak's blue, giving the costume a dramatic look that is often lacking in other versions of Doctor Strange's costumes.

Even the cloak received some major changes. Churchyard told SYFY WIRE he was given a directive by Feige to make the cloak a focal point for the character and "stand out". The cloak has been made a bit more voluminous compared to previous versions of suit, and a tassel was added to the end to allow it to flare in front of wearer while using Cloak of Levitation.

Churchyard's addition of a sling-ring to the costume was one of the most interesting. This artifact allows the user of the costume to open portals to other realities. The ring is ornate and could easily be mistaken as a band, or even brass knuckles. However, it reinforces the idea that this is a powerful magic tool.

dr strange costume is completed with a new amulet that can be easily purchased ready-made. Many vendors sell the Eye of Agamotto as a necklace, bracelet or pendant. McCall's pattern sheets are also available for cosplayers who want to make their own version of this item. Most of these replicas are the real props that were used in the film.
