Bandai Premium's Gengar Pillow is sold out in one hour.
Pokemon is among the most well-known media franchise and includes a range of merchandise including video games, anime, movies, and trading cards. Like this bizarre Gengar cushion shows that the franchise is pretty weird. The Japanese producer of products Premium Bandai designed the plushie to look like the menacing ghost Pokemon's head and neck. It also features a huge tongue that is able to be used in many ways. Pokemon merchandise tracking website Pokeshopper says that the Gengar pillow was sold out in an hour following its launch on its website. It may be some while before people outside Japan can purchase one.


The Gengar pillow which is able to serve as a blanket or bed, is priced at 25,950 yen. That's equivalent approximately $250 US dollars. It's a pretty costly price for a toy, but it's no surprise it went so quickly given the way it is unique and unusual appears. The 170cm length of the tongue makes it a great size for adults. According to the description, wrap the tongue around a person's body to keep them warm, or making it an oversized pillow. You can also put your head in the mouth of the Pokemon. However, it seems kind of terrifying to do so after the long days at work.


The internet has been awash with curiosity and fascination to the Gengar pillow which has led to various memes and fan art being created. Stealth40k on Twitter even designed a meme called tag yourself that is based on the latest item which saw some users re-creating lines of the Pokemon Sword and Shield anime as they inserted their heads inside the mouths of the monster (shown below on the left).


Premium Bandai isn't releasing a Pokemon pillow for the first time. In November, the company unveiled a Metapod sleepingbag that also created an internet buzz. People have been sharing photos of themselves sleeping on the cushion and adding it to their daily life, some using it to study how to utilize Lick and Hypnosis in Pokemon Sword and Shield.


It's not certain if Premium Bandai intends to launch another batch of Gengar pillows, or when the sleeper might be sold in the US, but interested buyers can check out export online retailers to see if any are in stock. The Gengar pillow isn't likely to gain enough popularity for Nintendo to change their Pokemon licensing agreement.
