We spoke with Tobias Mollstam (web developer for Mincraft.net) about the challenges of rapid growth.
We have learned from our experience that supporting many customers is the most challenging part of an extremely small team. This was the issue Mojang was facing on a grand scale - particularly when their license order confirmation emails were lost.
We had an e-mail server that was primarily used to send emails prior to our move to Postmark. It was a waste of time as we didn't perform all the tedious work needed to ensure that e-mails were delivered. As our user base grew, much more so did our pile of support tickets for lost purchase confirmations - so something needed to be changed.
Time is crucial when you're selling hundreds of copies of your software every hour.

Postmark was my favorite feature of the service. It took only 3 minutes to get up and running and has been chewing away since. We now have statistics about how our transactional emails are performing. We're back to the future!
Sorry, folks, the DeLorean doesn't come with your Postmark account. It's only available after gamers use the game to build scale replicas of the Starship Enterprise.
