Hatnefer was born in late reign of Ahmose, who united both lands of egypt by beating hyksos less than a decade before Hatnefers birth (1540 BC)
Ahmose was the brother of Kamose, last king of seventeenth dynasty who ruled most of south Egypt (THE SECOND INTERMEDIATE PERIOD)
- Also interesting because if you think about it, one of Hatnefers male relatives would have likely fought alongside Ahmose to drive the hyksos out
Very interesting: hatnefer was born in time where women were seen as individuals, not male posessions
- They could buy, sell, inherit property, and even create wills for their belongings
- They could be a witness in a court, sit in the jury, and could take over a husbands duties when he was gone
