Kitsune (Siluman Rubah)
Cerita tentang siluman rubah ini sudah ada sejak jaman Jepang kuno, sekitar abad ke-5 SM. Kitsune digambarkan sebagai siluman yang cerdas, sakti dan berumur panjang. Semakin tua umur Kitsune, maka dia akan semakin sakti. Dalam legenda Jepang Kitsune tertua memiliki 9 ekor dan memiliki bulu putih keemasan. Kitsune jenis ini disebut kyubi no kitsune dan kesaktiannya luarbiasa.
Kitsune juga diceritakan sangat suka berubah wujud jadi manusia. Kitsune paling sering berubah jadi wanita karena di Jepang wanita yang berwajah mirip rubah (berwajah tirus, tulang pipi tinggi dan alis tipis) dianggap cantik. Kabarnya karena sangat cantik, wanita jelmaan rubah ini bisa membuat pria jatuh cinta hingga mau menikah mereka.
Kemampuan Kitsune lainnya adalah merasuki manusia. Kisah kerasukan siluman rubah ini banyak diceritakan dalam legenda-legenda Jepang dan disebut sebagai Kitsunetsuki. Jika kerasukan Kitsune, manusia bisa bersifat seperti rubah, seperti sering teriak, menyalak, tiduran di jalan dan berlari kencang. Hingga di jaman modern sekarang ini, kisah Kitsune masih populer di Jepang. Buktinya Kitsune sering dimasukkan ke dalam cerita komik manga. Bahkan orang Jepang masih menyebut gejala mengigau akibat demam tinggi sebagai kerasukan Kitsunetsuki.
