It is known as a "community card game" because all players can use the same cards to make their best five card hand. In other words, each player will receive two private, face-down cards, also known as hole or supplementary cards. These cards are not visible to the other player. Throughout the game there will be a number of betting rounds and 5 community or shared cards that will be dealt. These cards are dealt face-up. Players will attempt to create the best possible 5 card hand by using any combination of the 7 cards they have (2 private cards, 5 shared cards). The same principle applies to all games of poker.
