It is important to be familiar with the winning hand rankings. This order holds true in all versions of poker. The following list is from highest to lowest possible winning hands. The four suits are: clubs, hearts or diamonds; hearts or spades; and hearts or diamonds.

After the blinds have been paid, each player is deal four cards face down by the dealer. These cards are known by the player's hole (or pocket) cards and must not be seen by other players.
