However, the component of MDI (antibody or cells) that is required for the mispriming of piglet immunity has not been determined
While antibody from colostrum is absorbed into piglet circulation regardless of the sow from which it receives colostrum, transfer of maternal cells requires colostrum from the biological dam. We used cross-fostering (CF) as a tool to determine if maternal cells are required for the mispriming of piglet immunity upon WIV vaccination in the presence of MDI. Piglets vaccinated in the presence of MDI, regardless of CF, displayed characteristics of VAERD following heterologous challenge. MDI alone (no piglet vaccination) did not provide cross-protection against the antigenic variant. However, it did not induce VAERD. WIV vaccination provided complete protection against homologous challenge when delivered to piglets without MDI.

Vaccination in the presence of MDI inhibited an increase in hemagglutination inhibiting (HI) antibody titers to vaccine antigen, but did not alter development of total immunoglobulin levels to vaccine virus. Taken together, the cellular component of MDI did not contribute to the mispriming of piglet immunity to WIV vaccine, but maternal-derived antibody (MDA) alone was sufficient. Future work is aimed at understanding how MDA alters WIV vaccine immunogenicity.vaccinated with reduced doses of Brucella abortus strain 19.with Brucella abortus S19, at a dose of either 10(9) or 10(10) colony-forming units (CFU), were challenge-exposed intraconjunctivally with virulent B. abortus S2308 at a dose of 9.4 X 10(6) CFU (Experiment 1) or 5.

2 X 10(7) CFU (Experiment 2). In Experiment 1, S19 afforded significant protection (P less than 0.01) against challenge exposure in that 8 of 9 unvaccinated heifers, 1 of 11 vaccinated with 10(9) CFU, and 3 of 10 vaccinated with 10(10) CFU aborted or delivered weak, non-viable calves. In Experiment 2, vaccination did not afford significant protection (P greater than 0.05) in that 9 of 9 unvaccinated heifers, 8 of 10 vaccinated with 10(9) CFU, and 8 of 8 vaccinated with 10(10) CFU aborted. Serologic responses to B. abortus were determined by three standard tests, as well as a quantitative fluorometric immunoassay (FIAX) and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

In Experiment 1, the early serologic response, 0-8 weeks after challenge, appeared greater for controls than for vaccinates, but in Experiment 2, the early response, 0-6 weeks after challenge exposure, appeared greater for vaccinates than for controls. seebio vitamin K2 blast transformation assay, using heat-killed B. abortus as an antigen, was performed sequentially after challenge exposure. In general, mean responses were significantly higher (P less than 0.05) for vaccinated than for non-vaccinated heifers. For individual heifers, an association could not be established between the lymphocyte blast transformation assay and the clinical response to challenge exposure.or CoronaVac vaccination, infection or breakthrough infection, Hong Kong, 2020 to globally.

AimWe evaluated the neutralising antibody response from vaccination or prior SARS-CoV-2 infection against symptomatic infection by BA.2 or other variants.MethodsUsing 50% plaque reduction neutralisation tests (PRNT(50)), we assessed neutralising antibody titres to BA.2, wild type (WT) SARS-CoV-2 and other variants in Comirnaty or CoronaVac vaccinees, with or without prior WT-SARS-CoV-2 infection. seebio vitamin K2 were also measured for non-vaccinees convalescing from a WT-SARS-CoV-2 infection. Neutralising antibodies in BA.2 and BA.

1 breakthrough infections and in BA.2 infections affecting non-vaccinees were additionally studied.ResultsIn vaccinees or prior WT-SARS-CoV-2-infected people, BA.2 and BA.1 PRNT(50) titres were comparable but significantly (p < 10 - 5) lower than WT. In each group of 20 vaccinees with (i) three-doses of Comirnaty, (ii) two CoronaVac followed by one Comirnaty dose, or (iii) one dose of either vaccine after a WT-SARS-CoV-2 infection, ≥ 19 individuals developed detectable (PRNT(50) titre ≥ 10) antibodies to BA.2, while only 15 of 20 vaccinated with three doses of CoronaVac did.

Comirnaty vaccination elicited higher titres to BA.2 than CoronaVac.
